PSILOVYBIN
FAITH MARTIN ABONGO | EDINBURGH FRINGE | AUG 2025

Africanus World Reviews 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥/5
Verdict: Naturally cross-cultural, excitingly transnational, and refreshingly interdimensional. This, family, is certainly Africanus World Reviews certified.

Let's just start by saying: if that title doesn't catch you, Psilovybin will trip you.
In this authentic new work, writer and performer Faith Martin Abongo steps onto the Fringe stage with presence, sharing the enchanting experience of awareness.
Remarkably relatable, Abongo fuses neuroscience with storytelling to dive deep into mushrooms and the technical intelligence of genetic memory across ages. This is no dry lecture. It’s an immersive, contemporary journey, where Abongo reminds us of our interconnectedness while visually expounding upon both current and ancient concepts.
In the style of a poetic TED Talk laced with moments that open portals tripping you into reflection, this authentic performance gives us a glimpse into the beauty of the brain's electric activity and how it translates in our individual lived experiences. We laughed, we sobbed, we journeyed. From visually striking symbology to the live resonance of a singing bowl…Psilovybin is not just watched. It's experienced.

IS THIS NORMAL?
ANSA EDIM | EDINBURGH FRINGE | AUG 2025

Africanus World Reviews 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥/5
Verdict: Authentic, endearing, bold.
The radiant Ansa Edim feels utterly at home on stage, inviting us into her musings on that ever-slippery question: what even is normal?
Through a natural sequence of stories and observations, Edim takes us on an honest journey of human interaction, from mediocre presumptions and idealised fantasies, to perspectives that make us wince and wonder. The beauty of this piece lies in its gentleness: it never seeks to accuse, but instead turns the mirror towards us with humour, warmth, and courage.
The performance was a joy! Weaving laughter, moments of cringe, deep reflection, and openness in equal measure. Edim’s timing is exquisite: she knows when to pause, allowing the penny to drop, whether that leads to unstoppable laughter or the quiet forming of a tear.
With a grounded presence, strong use of stage space, and a delivery that feels both intimate and universal, Is This Normal? leaves us with more than just entertainment. It offers food for thought. A reminder that in questioning what we call "normal", we may responsibly discover a greater compassion for ourselves and for one another.
